Number 1 …..

September 30, 2011

We recently learned that “May I Never Get Over the Cross” was the Number 1 Song for September in the Singing News. Boy were we suprised! We all knew that is was very special and timely, but had no idea how it would minister to people across the country and world. Now, for the big changes that it brought on. None … we still love Jesus, and aren’t over the cross. It may prove to open a few doors to share that message with some new friends … sure hope so! Have a great weekend :)

Are you OVER it?

July 19, 2011

Been a while huh? Someone pointed out to me today that I hadn’t given my 2 cents worth very regularly. Well, here you go!

We are so thrilled by the recent success of “May I Never Get Over The Cross” at radio! Our dear friends all across the country at Southern Gospel Radio have been so supportive of our music and message. Gosh, we could never thank them enough …

While reading my Bible preparing to speak to a small group a few weeks ago, I read the passage of scripture that says .. and with a loud cry, He breathed his last. I must tell you, it hit me like a ton of bricks! Not some movie depiction or Sunday School lesson, but the Word of God. Jesus did not die a gentle or pretty death … it was brutal and ugly, and he did it for my sin .. and yours. In that moment, the song became even more real to me! I don’t want to ever get over the cross. It represents love beyond comprehension that Jesus had for us. Let it never become an empty symbol … you have to talk about the blood … pray that God burns into your memory what it really cost! Let your prayer be that of ours …. that we NEVER GET OVER THE CROSS !

Trusting His Heart!

January 17, 2010

I have for the past several years nurtured a business that helped to support our ministry. The perfect economic storm over the past year has caused it to fail. For nearly twenty years I worked to build it, only to watch it die. It has been a very difficult time for me personally and for our family. The financial impact has been huge as I was the primary provider for us. Instead of being ten years from early retirement as I planned, I face starting over. As I write this, I have no definite direction for the future other than Eighth Day. While it has been incredibly difficult facing such drastic change, God has revealed himself over and over during this time. If I had to explain how we have managed to make house payments, I couldn’t but to say God’s provision is real for his children. He has taken care of all the details … even down to Caleb’s education being free to one of the greatest institutions in America. There have been many times that I certainly could not see the hand of God, yet I have always trusted his heart. In Isaiah 41:10 he promised to uphold us with his right hand, and boy has he been true to his word! We are living our song, how fitting is that. I am not sure how this will all turn out, but I am sure who has got a hold of me!

Our past …

July 9, 2009

Aren’t you glad that God doesn’t consult our past to determine our future! Oh the joy of knowing that our sin is cast into a sea of forgetfulness, as far from us as the east is from the west. That is love that my simple mind can’t begin to understand. We should use our past as a guidepost .. not a hitching post. Let it go, God does.

Ain’t that what it’s all about?

March 6, 2009

We were in Pruntytown, WV this past Sunday. We had one eye on the weather wondering if we would make it home, I could hardly speak due to sickness, and we were all sleep deprived. All the reason in the world to just go through the motions, right? Wrong! We had no choice but to focus and do our dead level best to present Christ through our music and let the Holy Spirit work …. did it ever!  A seven year old boy came to Christ with Mom holding his hand. A middle-aged lady came to Christ. While his praying wife looked through tears, a grown man asked Jesus to be Lord of his life. We didn’t make it home because the heavy snow closed the interstate, but we rested well, safe and warm. We try our best to be faithful … God always is. Ain’t that what it’s all about?

Well, it is somewhat official now, Caleb is going to be appointed to the US Naval Academy. Joni and I are so proud of his accomplishment! He is a godly young man that has so well represented our family … I am sure he will do the same for our great nation!
